Used Track Tractors Are Hot

Makes perfect sense.

It's been wet. Super wet. Last fall right on into Spring '19. Terrible flooding across such wide areas of Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri. Given the wet soil conditions on our collective minds not surprising that we have been seeing very strong auction sale prices on good condition used track tractors.

Very strong prices.

Like $52,250 on Tuesday (April 23, 2019) on the 1998 John Deere 8400T track tractor with 4,818 hours, from northeast Iowa, sold on an online auction by the good folks at DPA Auctions ( $52,250 is the 2nd highest auction sale price on a John Deere 8400T tractor in nearly 5 1/2 years. Here's a picture of the 8400T.

Another recent strong selling John Deere used track tractor was the 2013 model 9560RT with 1,107 hours sold by the great team at the Steffes Group ( on an April 9, 2019 farm retirement auction in east-central North Dakota. It went for $206,000. Here's a picture.

$206K is the 2nd highest auction sale price on a John Deere 9560RT the past 28 months. The Steffes Group had another memorable farm retirement auction a while back with a pair of Case IH Quad Trac tractors, the Reuss farm retirement auction in west-central Minnesota on November 29, 2018. We filmed that auction for our Machinery Pete TV show (watch TV show online here: A 2012 model Case IH Steiger 550 Quad Trac sold very strong on that auction. It had 2,178 hours on it, but was in immaculate condition. It sold for $232,000. That was the 4th highest auction sale price in the U.S. the past 3 years on a 550 Quad Trac. Here's Youtube video I posted of it selling:
