The Day John Deere Introduced The 4230 - August 19, 1972

Having Fun Talking JD 4230 Tractors today. This cool pic of Steve Kaufman of Goshen, IN with his 1 owner 1973 JD 4230 with 7250 hours got 'em talking today on our Machinery Pete social media outlets.

Got me to thinking…

About the blog I wrote 13 years ago about the day John Deere introduced the New 4230 model to the world…Saturday, August 19, 1972 with special dealer unveils around the country.

Here’s that blog I wrote 13 years ago: Back in Time 1972: New John Deere 4230 Tractors

So the dealer I highlighted in the blog, Joe Colgan, then 96 years old, former owner of Colgan Co. John Deere dealershp in Wyoming, IL…I had to great honor to meet and interview Joe, along with his son Tim Colgan, in February 2011 on my way to Louisville for the National Farm Machinery Show. Joe had tured 97 years young. SHARP AS A TAC. I did a 3-part Machinery Pete YouTube video interview series with Joe and Tim Colgan. Of the 2100+ YouTube videos I’ve posted the past nearly 15 years…these video interviews with Joe Colgan were and will always be some of all time FAV Machinery Pete YouTube videos:

Joe Colgan passed away April 28, 2015 at the age of 101. Joe’s wife Majella Colgan, who joined us in Part 3 of the YouTube video, passed away January 2, 2017 at the age of 98.

Joe’s grandson Andy sent me a picture of Joe on his 100th birthday…the grandkids gave grandpa Joe an iPad. They said he loved reading Machinery Pete latest blogs.
