You know a trend is real thing when you post a blog, column, or video commentary on a topic and then 2 days later…Boom, more proof. Well, that’s exactly what happened last Wednesday (July 17, 2019) on a super nice farm auction in Callaway, MN (northwest Minnesota) by the great team at the Steffes Group (www.steffesgroup.com). Note the pair of 2014 model Case IH Steiger 550 Quad Tracs on the sale in this great Steffes Group pic from auction day:
Both had 30" tracks, luxury cabs with heated red leather with buddy seats and 1000 PTO’s. Super condition. This one with 890 hours sold for $254,000.
And the next one, with 1,230 hours went for $249,000.
So how do those sale prices stack up? Well, including these, the Avg. Auction Price on the last (8) Case IH Steiger 550 Quad Tracs sold = $218,814. Meanwhile the current Avg. Dealer Advertised Price = $219,707.
Wow…avg. auction price almost = avg. dealer advertised price. That folks is another sure sign of a HOT sector. As I said last week, good condition used track tractors are HOT. Makes perfect sense of course given the exceedingly late wet #Harvest18 and #Plant19 seasons we’ve endured across so much of the country.

So the pair of 2014 model Case IH Steiger 550 Quad Tracs sold on the Callaway, MN farm auction last Wednesday were the 2nd and 3rd highest auction prices the past 3 1/2 years.
Note that 3 of the 5 highest auction prices on 550 Quad Tracs the past 3 1/2 years were sold by The Steffes Group (www.steffesgroup.com). Last mid November we filmed another nice farm retirement auction they had in Barrett, MN (west-central Minnesota) where an older 2012 model Case IH Steiger 550 in very good condition, but with a few more hours (2,178 hours) sold for $232,000.
