Mike Brocksmith of Vincennes, IN had his farm retirement auction on Thursday (August 6, 2020).

My friends at Sullivan Auctioneers (www.sullivanauctioneers.com) had told me about Mike and Susan Brocksmith’s beautiful line of equipment a few months ago. Zach Hiner with Sullivans told me, “Pete, everything was immaculate.”
Sale prices on Thursday’s auction were very strong, including Mike’s 2014 CaseIH 7230 combine with 1237 engine hours for $172,000. Here’s a picture of it.

I congratulated Mike after the auction and asked what surprised him most in terms of prices.
“There were many pleasant surprises on the machinery, but the 2 biggest standouts were my Dodge Cummins pickups,” said Brocksmith.
2004 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT with 96,387 miles, sold: $30,000
1993 Doge Power Ram 350 with 119,680 miles, Hillsboro steel flatbed, sold: $18,000

The 2 strong sale prices on Mike’s beautiful older pickups Thursday confirms a trend that has been picking up speed since COVID-19 pandemic…stronger buyer demand and sale pricing on very good condition slightly older model used pickups.
For example on the Vernon Niewenhuis farm estate auction we filmed for our Machinery Pete TV show (www.MachineryPete.com/mptv) a week ago Saturday, August 1, in Granville, IA…the star of the day, the HOTTEST seller on a sale filled with excellent condition equipment was the red 2002 Chevy 2500HD Silverado ext. cab 4x4 with 60,682 miles sold for $19,000.
