John Deere 4440 tractors, made from 1978-1982, are selling at auction this year 52.5% higher than they were 20 years ago in 2003 when they were only 20-25 years old. The red hot buyer demand for good condition JD 4440’s showed its head again clearly this past Saturday, August 26, 2023, on the Ronald Tonn farm retirement auction in Brandon, IA by Emmett Donnelly Auctioneering and Appraisal Service.
1982 JD 4440 with 3777 hours, 2nd owner, sold: $45,500
That is now the 29th 4440 sold $40K or more since October 2020. For 20+ years from 2000 through September 2020 I only saw 11 JD 4440’s sold $40K or more at auction.

Avg. Auction Price on 4440’s so far this year ($26,949) at an all time high and a whopping 52.5% higher than 20 years ago in 2003 ($17,670).
