What are the best cover crops to plant in the eastern corn belt?
We in NW Ohio love our radishes!! Cost effective for adding nitrogen to the soil and we’ve had excellent soil quality when the cover crops are tilled up in the spring. We plant nearly 100 acres of these every year…plus if you’re a hunter, they make for an excellent food plot as well!
If you’re getting started, I would suggest starting on wheat ground. I’ve used a 4 way blend of radish, rye, winter peas and crimson clover with success.
