1989 CaseIH 9180 4WD Tractor Sold for Record Price

Not every tractor sold at auction goes for a record price.

Far from it. Let's take CaseIH 9180 4WD tractors for example. Made by CaseIH from 1986 - 1990, four of the last five 9180's I've seen sold at auction went from a low (very) of $11,750 up to $28,250. Nothing earth shattering there by any means.

But, ah, that fifth of the last five 9180's sold...that one did set a record.

It was a nifty 1989 model 9180 with 6,232 hours sold on a February 28, 2019 farm auction by Sullivan Auctioneers (http://www.sullivanauctioneers.com) in northeast Kansas. It had 3pt., 1000 PTO and 520/85R42 duals. Here's a picture of it.

It sold for $60,000. That is the highest auction price I've seen on a CaseIH 9180 4WD in 20 plus years. Here's a look at the highest auction prices over the past two decades:

Note the next highest 9180 sold in the U.S., a 1990 model 9180 with 4,225 hours sold for $53,000 on a July 16, 2010 farm auction in Osceola, IA. I was there that day, filming for TV. Beautiful sunny mid summer day. Almost nine years ago now.

Sullivan Auctioneers had another hot selling older CaseIH 4WD tractor last week, on their March 7, 2019 farm sale in west-central Iowa, where the 1998 model CaseIH 9330 4WD pictured below, with 2,771 hours, sold for $78,000.

$78,000 is the highest auction sale price on a CaseIH 9330 4WD in exactly 7 years, since a 3/10/12 auction in northwest Illinois where a 1996 model with 1,873 hours, 2nd owner, sold for $81,000. For perspective, the previous (9) 9330's sold coming into the west-central Iowa auction last week...Avg. Auction Price = $37,429 (Hight $55,000; Low $17,066). Just more proof here folks of the trend I've been writing/talking about steadily since November 2017...buyer demand for the best condition used tractors with bit of age on them and with lower hours is actually shooting HIGHER, yes, even despite the continuing very trying ag economy we're currently stuck with.

There is also a very palpable feeling out there, you can see it in the bidding and all these premium prices being paid, that these nice condition older tractors with low hours...THEY ARE BUILT TO LAST. Folks are voting with their checkbooks. The examples are everywhere out there.

So if you are in the market for a nice older 4WD Tractor, let me help you...here's a link to (245) 1970 to 1999 model year 4WD Tractors for sale today all over the country, including a rare one, a restored 1981 Big Bud 525/50 4WD in South Dakokta.
