Of course one of the advantages of getting old is we’ve seen a LOT of stuff over the years. When I crack open the old F.A.C.T’s Report auction sale price books I used to publish in the pre-internet days I find lots of amazing things.
Like the 1st 2 JD 4455 tractors ever sold at auction. Both in April of 1990. John Deere made the iconic and very popular 4455 model from 1989 - 1992.
- April '90 - Farm auction, southwest ND, 6 Hours, MFWD, sold: $53,000
- April '90 - Farm auction, southeast MN, 1989 model, 121 hours, MFWD, sold: $58,100
30 Years Ago in 1994 the Avg. Auction Price on JD 4455’s was $47,385. Compare that to the past 3 years here where I’ve seen (163) JD 4455’s sold at auction and the Avg. Auction Price = $47,376.

Here’s picture of the record high price 4455…sold for $160,000 on 4/29/24 auction in Berlin, WI by Wilkinson Auction & Realty, 1992 model with 2260 hours.
You may remember the previous record high sale price 4455 from a Machinery Pete YouTube video I posted last Fall on 10/28/23 from a Winchester, KY farm auction where a 4455 with 3549 hours sold for $97,850 to a buyer from Washington state with a small hay operation. BTW - the JD 4960 sitting right next to the 4455…also sold for record high sale price.
