Rare Allis Chalmers 220 FWD Tractor Sells Today on Indiana Auction

How high will it go?

I’m in northeast Indiana today filming Day 2 of my good friend Dennis Polk’s “Pre Estate” collector auction for our Machinery Pete TV show (www.MachineryPete.com/mptv). Tons of interesting stuff on today’s sale, top of the list of which is this rare (< 100 made total) Allis Chalmers 220 FWD tractor in beautiful original condition.

Online bid is up to $50,500 this morning: www.polkauction.com. Here is a look at the highest auction sale prices ever on Allis Chalmers 220’s:

Highest Auction Prices on Allis Chalmers 220 Tractors

Here’s a picture of the record holder, a 1970 model 220 FWD sold for $83,500 on an April 1, 2017 collector auction by Mecum Auction in Davenport, IA:

In 2nd place highest all time auction price on a 220 Allis Chalmers was another FWD 1970 model, this one with 2,600 hours, sold on a 6/27/14 collector auction in Bedford, IA by Polk Auction Company.

Here’s Youtube video I filmed of that 1970 model 220 FWD selling for $68K: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOPPabjeJTU&t=16s

The only 2WD model 220 making our Top 5 Highest Auction Price list was a nifty 1972 model, restored with only 19 hours on it since restoration, sold for $40,000 on a July 1, 2017 farm auction I covered by Maring Auction Co. in Hastings, MN. Here’s Youtube video of that Allis Chalmers 220 2WD tractor selling: https://www.machinerypete.com/media_posts/restored-1972-allis-chalmers-220-2wd-tractor-sold-today-on-hastings-mn-farm-auction

So again, how high with the Allis Chalmers 220 FWD go on today’s New Paris, IN collector auction? We’ll soon find out. I will post Machinery Pete Youtube video of it selling later today. One interesting thing to note about today’s Allis 220…it is SN# 1003, which makes it one of, if not the very 1st, Allis 220 FWD’s made. Dennis Polk today me yesterday he bought it out of South Dakota and he thinks it is actually an experimental 220 FWD as the 1st marketed 220 had SN# 1004.

Stay tuned…this should be fun today!
