Hi Pete, I was just wondering if you have found a nice case ih 5240 with low hours. Would like to use the tractor for a auger tractor. Would like to keep the hours between 2,000 and 4,000 if possible.
Thanks for your question. 5240’s great tractors. My friend Pat McCrabb with J.J. Nichting Co. in Pilot Grove, IA has a very nice 1992 model 5240 with only 1,300 hours, MFWD, loader for sale. Here’s link to it:

…tell Pat Machinery Pete says Hi
Hi.
Case International 5240s can be pretty good for doing chores around the yard. For fieldwork they`re ok.
Some things to be aware of.
-Small Fuel tank. It lasts around 8 hours if you`re doing fieldwork. So usually you have to fill up mid-way through the day.
-There are only two steps to enter into the cab. We added a third to ours.
-Controls are in three spots; Gearshift on the right, forward/reverse by the steering wheel, park brake on the left.
-To fill hydraulic oil you have to pull off most of the hydraulic hoses for your implement.
-They are louder in the cab than 1980s Case/Case IH tractors.
-3-point hitch is difficult to control.
These are things I have noticed form our 1996 Case International 5240 with 10 500 hours. If you are just doing chores and small jobs around the farm it would be a good tractor for you. Just my thoughts.
Have a Great Day!
