1982 John Deere 4440 Sold for $37K Friday on Missouri Sale

I've seen a LOT of John Deere 4440 Tractors sold at auction over the years...1,257 of them to be exact over just the past 17 years. So kind of a big deal when a 4440 cracks my Top 10 List and that's exactly what happened Friday (December 8, 2017) on a consignment auction in Memphis, MO by our friends at Ed's Machinery (http://www.edsmachinery.com).

The 1982 John Deere 4440 with 3,030 original hours, Quad Range, pictured below, sold for $37,000.

$37,000 is the highest auction sale price I've seen so far this year on a John Deere 4440 tractor. In fact, $37,000 is the highest auction sale price on a 4440 sold without a loader in 38 months, going all the way back to a September 13, 2014 farm auction east-central Nebraska where the 1982 model 4440 with 3,670 hours pictured below sold for $40,000.

Here's a look at the 10 highest auction sale prices I've ever seen on a John Deere 4440 tractor (made by Deere 1977 - 1982) sold at auction without a loader with it:

Of course many of you will remember the No. 1 highest auction sale price John Deere 4440 ever, a 1982 model with only 47 actual hours on it that sold for $58,000 on the famous March 6, 2009 farm auction in Hamilton, IL on the Sullivan Auctioneers (http://www.sullivanauctioneers.com) lot. In fact No. 1, 2, and 4 in our Top 10 list were all 4440's sold on this same 3/6/09 auction in Hamilton, IL for a farmer who passed away and had sold the oil mineral rights on his land decades ago to an oil company in Texas. As part of those mineral rights negotiations, the Illinois farmer also go the Texas oil company to buy him a line of John Deere farm equipment...including (3) 1982 John Deere 4440's.

Then he basically put 'em in the shed and there they sat. Until March 6, 2009 when they sold at auction for $58,000, $51,000 and $43,000. Here's a pic of those (3) 4440's on sale day...wow, what a crowd:
