Lot of John Deere S670 Combines for sale out there. Quick look in our [www.MachineryPete.com](http://www.MachineryPete.com) web site today finds (915) S670’s listed for sale.

So…how are used S670 values holding up?

Let’s isolate first the initial model year Deere began cranking out the S670 combine: **2012** Here’s a look at what’s happened with 2012 model S670 values at auction over the past 5 years:

**Avg. Auction Price on 2012 John Deere S670 Combines**

So appears 2012 model S670’s holding hard cash auction value so far in 2019 on par with values last year, after a 14.7% drop in used value in 2018 down to $113,483 from $133,008 back in 2017. Analyzing our auction price data you can see how the calendar year 2015 saw a significant jump in the No. of 2012 model year S670’s sold at auction and this rising volume of 2012 models sold at auction peaked in 2017 and has receded back since.

_ **This 2012 John Deere S670 with 1598 engine hours from northeast Iowa sold for $137,000 on 2/12/19 online farm auction by DPA Auctions** _

An interesting counterpoint to the current Avg. Auction Price of $113,450 on 2012 model John Deere S670’s is the current Avg. Dealer Advertised Price on 2012 model S670s, which is $154,085, down only a sliver from the Avg. Dealer Advertised Price 90 days ago: $154,264. So retail on the lot pricing on 2012 model S670’s also holding steady here so far in 2019.

If we apply my **“Machinery Pete Ratio”** rule here (Avg. Auction Price / Avg. Dealer Advertised Price) we come out at 73.6% ratio which is historically right in line with what our data has shown over the past decade and half I’ve been following this data ratio…72-76% has been the historical norm, so 73.6%…right in line.

Where I currently see a bigger gap between auction pricing and dealer advertised pricing lies with 2013 - 2014 model S670 combines. We show (348) 2013 - 2014 model S670’s for sale today at [www.MachineryPete.com](http://www.MachineryPete.com), while only (142) 2012 model S670’s for sale. The Avg. Auction Price on the last (48) 2013 - 2014 model S670’s = $128,688, while the current Avg. Dealer Advertised Price on 2013 - 2014 model S670’s = $187,439.

So the **“Machinery Pete Ratio”** on 2013 - 2014 model John Deere S670 Combines = 68.7%, a smidge under our historical norm of 72 - 76% range…perhaps due to the elevated level of 2013 - 2014 model S670’s currently sitting on dealer lots.

One thing I’ve found true from nearly 30 years tracking auction sale price data day by day…the auction market is VERY responsive. Folks feeling good, for whatever reason, prices move higher. Folks in the pull back mode, for whatever reason, prices dip.

I will continue to monitor hard cash auction pricing as well as dealer advertised price data on late model combines + all other types of equipment. Rest of 2019 will be very interesting…stay tuned.
