This sweet 1999 JD 8400 with only 2822 hours sold for $86,750 last Saturday (September 21, 2019) on the Niehus farm estate auction in Remsen, IA (northwest Iowa) by our friends at the Iowa Auction Group ([www.iowaauctiongroup.com](http://www.iowaauctiongroup.com)). $86,750 is the 2nd highest auction sale price this year on an 8400 and the 5th highest auction price the past 6 1/2 years.

Note how 4 of the 5 highest auction prices the past 6 1/2 years have all come since the start of last year, January 2018. Interesting. Also interesting to know that 3 of the 4 highest auction prices came on farm sales by our friends at Sullivan Auctioneers ([www.sullivanauctioneers.com](http://www.sullivanauctioneers.com)). Here’s video of the highest seller…an amazing 1999 model with 2536 hours sold for $100,000 on January 10, 2018 farm auction in Van Buren, IN: [https://www.machinerypete.com/media\_posts/1999-john-deere-8400-with-2536-hours-sold-for-100-000-today-on-indiana-farm-auction](https://www.machinerypete.com/media_posts/1999-john-deere-8400-with-2536-hours-sold-for-100-000-today-on-indiana-farm-auction)

Also interesting to note that the Avg. Auction Price on JD 8400 tractors is actually the highest right now its been in 5 years:

**AVG. AUCTION PRICE ON JD 8400 TRACTORS**

- Data by [www.MachineryPete.com](http://www.MachineryPete.com)

And how about this…the current Avg. Auction Price ($46,542) is barely trailing the current Avg. Dealer Advertised Price on JD 8400’s ($50,620). That’s a **“Machinery Pete Ratio”** of a whopping 91.9% (Avg. Auction Price / Avg. Dealer Advertised Price. Historical norm the past 16 years for **“Machinery Pete Ratio”** runs in 71 - 76% range).
